Where to shop when you arrive, where to have lunch after a dive at Malendure, which activity to book for tomorrow: to enjoy Bouillante like a local, you need the right addresses. That is the idea behind BAM, short for Bouyant An-Mwen, a website and app entirely dedicated to the town.
Here is what you will find in it, how to install it, and the other resources we recommend to our guests to plan their stay on the Côte-sous-le-Vent.
BAM, the 100% Bouillante app
BAM was designed to make visitors’ stays easier. It brings together Bouillante’s shops, restaurants and activities in one place, when this information is usually scattered across social media, posters and word of mouth.
It is a local tool, built for the town: handy when you are discovering Bouillante and don’t yet know where to look.
Good to know: BAM is under maintenance
At the time of writing (September 2026), the website shows a maintenance page. It is due to reopen in October 2026 with a new version. We will update this article as soon as it is back online.
How to install BAM on your phone
Go to www.bouyantanmwen.com. The home page has a step-by-step tutorial explaining how to install the app on your smartphone.
Our tip: install it before you leave or as soon as you arrive, while you have a good connection. You will then have the addresses at hand for your whole stay.
What you will find in the app
Shops
To stock up when you arrive or find a local shop, without driving to another town.
Restaurants
Creole cooking, lunch with your feet in the sand or dinner on a terrace: the app helps you choose where to eat, near Malendure beach and across the town.
Activities
Diving in the Cousteau Reserve, snorkelling, boat trips or hikes: BAM lists the activities on offer in Bouillante. For water activities, our guide to diving, snorkelling and kayaking from Malendure also explains the rules to follow around the Pigeon Islands.
While you wait for it to reopen: our other resources
While BAM is under maintenance, these sources will help you plan your stay:
- the Destination Bouillante website (in French), with sections on sea and land activities, restaurants and shopping, and a downloadable map of the hot springs;
- our article on the Parc de la Source, ten minutes’ walk from our bungalows;
- our article on La Grivelière, one of the heritage sites of the Côte-sous-le-Vent;
- and of course our advice on site: we know the town well and are happy to share our favourite places.
Bouillante in a nutshell
Bouillante lies on the Côte-sous-le-Vent, the west coast of Basse-Terre, sheltered from the trade winds. The town owes its name to its hot springs: the village centre was once a hot-water marsh, and people still bathe today in natural pools such as the Bain du Curé or the Thomas spring. This underground heat also powers the town’s geothermal plant.
Opposite Malendure beach, the Pigeon Islands and the Cousteau Reserve make Bouillante one of the best-known diving and snorkelling destinations in Guadeloupe.
