Bouillante owes its name to its hot waters, which makes it a natural place for aquatic relaxation. At the property, we are lucky to know Aurélie Zouine, a certified ATMA Janzu® practitioner. She offers sessions in the sea, in the property’s pool or in the town’s hot springs.
Here is what this practice involves, how a session unfolds and how to book one during your stay.
What is ATMA Janzu?
ATMA Janzu is a technique of letting go and deep relaxation, practised in warm water and based on the soothing power of water. Sessions are one-to-one: the practitioner holds you in the water, rocking, stretching and massaging you in rhythm with your breathing.
During this aquatic journey, Aurélie offers a space of listening, total presence and kindness. There is no swimming and no effort involved: you simply float and let go.
The benefits of a session
Physically
Natural release of muscles and joints, easing of physical tension, stimulation of blood circulation and breathing.
Mentally
Deep relaxation, reconnecting with yourself, letting go, serenity and stress relief. Many people describe a feeling of lightness that lasts long after leaving the water.
ATMA Janzu is a wellbeing practice and does not replace medical care. If you have a health condition, ask your doctor before booking a session.
How a session unfolds
A session lasts between 45 minutes and 1 hour 30. Just bring your swimsuit.
Before: out of the water
Aurélie welcomes you in a space of listening, kindness and exchange, to understand what you are looking for.
During: in the water
You are invited to breathe deeply, close your eyes and let yourself be carried as you float. Through movement, rocking, massage, stretching and sometimes short immersions, the mind calms down, the body relaxes and the journey begins.
After: a gentle return
At the end of the session, Aurélie helps you come back to yourself gently.
Where do sessions take place in Bouillante?
In the sea, on the Côte-sous-le-Vent
Sheltered from the trade winds, the Caribbean Sea is often calm on this side of the island and the water stays warm all year round: a natural setting for a session off one of the beaches of the Côte-sous-le-Vent.
In the property’s private pool
If you are staying with us, the session can take place in the property’s pool, without going anywhere.
In Bouillante’s hot springs
Aurélie also offers sessions in the town’s natural hot springs, which gave Bouillante its name. Ask her about it when you book.
She also works in Pointe-Noire, Deshaies and Le Gosier, and travels to private pools in both Basse-Terre and Grande-Terre.
